Clayton County Housing and Community Development Program, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

Description
Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing and Community Needs Assessment, Clayton County, Georgia. The Collaborative Firm provides support to the Clayton County Housing and Community Development Program in its administration of its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME, and Neighborhood Stabilization Programs. In 2009, The Collaborative Firm performed an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing, which was comprised of a review of housing and demographic data, public policies, planning practices, and community surveys and interviews to identify potential barriers and challenges to fair housing choice within Clayton County. The Collaborative Firm also led efforts to survey and update a community needs assessment (public facilities, housing and homeless needs, public services and infrastructure) for inclusion into the County’s Consolidated Plan, Annual Action Plan. In 2010, a Continuum of Care Feasibility Study was performed to evaluate the need for creating a Continuum of Care (CoC) for homeless individuals and families within Clayton County. The Collaborative Firm led efforts to identify gaps in service provision, identify key service providers, and compare and contrast a Clayton County Continuum of Care with a State of Georgia Balance of State Continuum of Care. The Collaborative Firm is currently assisting the program administrator with an inventory of vacant single-family lots within the County and their impact on future housing policy decisions.
