Maurice

Maurice Ungaro assists in the operations and planning efforts of The Collaborative Firm, specializing in business development, current planning, comprehensive planning, redevelopment plans, and historic preservation. Maurice assists the Firm’s governmental clients with achieving their planning and revitalization goals.

Maurice has worked closely with staff and elected officials in cities and counties throughout the Atlanta region providing planning and public policy expertise on various planning initiatives. Prior to joining The Collaborative Firm, he served as a planning consultant working in communities in the southeast. Maurice also served as the Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of Fayetteville, and as the Community Development Director for the City of Fairburn.

REPRESENTATIVE PROJECT EXPERIENCE

City of Chattahoochee Hills: At the request of major land owners, Maurice drafted a white paper to examine the viability of Chattahoochee Hills to incorporate. He worked closely with interested parties to evaluate their needs and the feasibility of the proposal.

City of Fairburn Community Development Director:  Maurice directed the City’s development services staff, reviewed and proposed changes to the zoning ordinance and reviewed development projects.

Atlanta Regional Commission: While at ARC, Maurice was a principal planner responsible for administering Livable Cities Initiative (LCI) projects for numerous counties in the region. Additionally, he offered planning and historic preservation assistance to the ten county region, as well as reviewed comprehensive plans for compliance.

City of Fayetteville, Director of Planning and Zoning:  Maurice managed the City’s interdepartmental development review process, amended the City’s Code of Ordinances to provide incentives for preservation of historic resources, enhanced urban design, mixed land uses, and greenspace preservation.

Beaufort County, SC, Long Range Planner: Responsible for many aspects of the Comprehensive Plan development, and long range planning endeavors covering the coastal environment.
